Eduardo Freitas is a climate finance specialist with over 20 years of experience working across public, private, and multilateral institutions. His work focuses on structuring climate-aligned investments, supporting policymakers and decision-makers, and strengthening institutional frameworks for climate action. With a background spanning engineering, business strategy, and sustainable development, he brings interdisciplinary insight to the design and implementation of climate finance solutions.

Before co-founding AvaTerra Global, Eduardo served for nearly a decade at the Green Climate Fund (GCF), where he led regional programming with a primary focus on Africa and additional engagement across Latin America and other regions. He supported climate finance efforts in more than 100 countries, building particularly close partnerships with national institutions in Africa and a core group of countries across other regions. His roles included managing regional desks, advising on investment planning, and leading global stakeholder engagement initiatives. He played a key role in shaping strategies and providing technical guidance that contributed to the successful mobilization of climate finance at scale, including projects totaling billions in funding.

Eduardo holds an MBA in Strategy from HEC Paris and degrees in engineering from leading Brazilian institutions. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish, and has worked across a wide range of country contexts, collaborating with national and international stakeholders to advance climate investment strategies. At AvaTerra, he leads work at the intersection of climate finance and investment strategy, supporting clients in advancing equitable, effective, and scalable climate responses.
